My Favorite Book in the Entire Series

Alright my fellow spicy book dragons. This is it. Out of every book currently released in the Monstrous series, Seraph is my absolute favorite. I adored every book before this one, but Lily Mayne somehow took everything I already loved about the series and turned it into one of the most emotional monster romances I've ever read. If Book 8 manages to top this one, I'll honestly be shocked.

Before You Start

One quick recommendation before jumping into Seraph. If you haven't read the novella Wyn, I highly recommend reading it first. This book contains a pretty significant spoiler, and reading the novella beforehand makes one moment in this story even more impactful.

Meet the Couple

Lilac (Jesse) (MMC): Nebraska camp's quiet killer and resident gardener. Lilac doesn't say much, but his actions speak louder than words. Fiercely loyal to the people he loves, incredibly protective, slightly unhinged, deadly with a machete, has a few interesting piercings, and secretly one of the biggest softies in the entire camp. Needless to say... I absolutely loved him.

Seraph (Luke Buckle) (MMC): Once a human soldier, Seraph became the first subject of Project Divinity, a military experiment designed to create the ultimate bioweapon using monster DNA. Years of experimentation, imprisonment, and unimaginable suffering left him physically transformed and mentally broken. Despite everything that's been done to him, underneath all the pain is someone who is gentle, compassionate, fiercely protective, and completely devoted to Lilac.

What I Loved

One of my favorite things about this romance is that it isn't built on instant attraction. It's built on patience. When Seraph first arrives at the Nebraska camp, he's frightened, confused, constantly in pain, and barely coherent. Most people are understandably terrified of him. Lilac isn't.

Instead of giving up on him, Lilac quietly sits with him night after night, slowly earning his trust one conversation at a time. Watching that relationship develop was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had reading this series. Neither of them is trying to fix the other. They're simply trying to help each other survive.

The Most Emotional Book So Far

This book absolutely wrecked me emotionally. Learning what Project Divinity did to Seraph was heartbreaking enough, but watching him fight to reclaim pieces of himself after everything he'd endured was even harder. There were multiple scenes where I found myself tearing up.

Lily Mayne does an incredible job showing that healing isn't a straight path. Seraph takes steps forward, falls backward, and struggles every single day, making every small victory feel incredibly meaningful. It made me love his character even more.

The Entire Camp Feels Like Family

One thing I really appreciated was getting to spend more time with all the previous couples. By this point in the series, Nebraska camp truly feels like home. Watching Ghost, Rig, Gloam, Aury, Edin, Wyn, and everyone else work together to protect Seraph reminded me why I love this found family so much. Everyone has a role to play, and every previous story continues to matter.

Let's Talk About the Spice...

Yes, my fellow tentacle lovers. This one is definitely for you.

Seraph's monster anatomy brings something completely new to the series, and Lily Mayne somehow manages to make it equal parts creative, romantic, and unbelievably hot. Let's just say Seraph introduces an entirely new meaning to "monster romance" with his tongue.

I'll leave the rest for you to discover.

The Verdict

Highly Recommended For: Fans of monster romance, hurt and comfort, emotional healing, found family, protective love interests, rehabilitation stories, and romances that perfectly balance heartbreak, hope, humor, and spice.

Seraph is, without question, my favorite book in the Monstrous series so far. Lilac became my favorite human character almost immediately, while Seraph completely stole my heart. Their relationship isn't just romantic, it's built on trust, patience, healing, and unconditional acceptance.

Between the emotional character growth, the incredible world-building, the returning cast, the action, and yes... the absolutely unforgettable spice... this book had everything I could possibly want. If you've made it this far into the Monstrous series, trust me when I say the journey is more than worth it.

Happy reading, and remember my fellow spicy book dragons, before starting a book please check the tropes, and always check for trigger warnings. Nobody likes an unfinished book because the tropes aren't your cup of tea or having a bad reading experience because of unexpected trigger warnings.
